Highlights from BFG Portfolio Day 2024

Blockchain Founders Group recently hosted our highly-anticipated annual Portfolio Day in the scenic town of Neustadt an der Weinstraße in Germany. This in-person gathering brought together our extensive network of investors, ecosystem partners, and startups for an enriching afternoon filled with insightful discussions and networking opportunities.

What went on at Portfolio Day

The event kicked off with a dynamic dialogue featuring a panel of startup founders from the BFG web3 startup programs: Robert Wesley Founder & CEO of My AI, Modupe Diyaolu, Founder of meCash, Ilya Evdokimov, CEO & Co-Founder of SatsBridge, and Lukasz Lukaszewski, Co-Founder of ChainComply, moderated by Max Zheng from the BFG team.

The four founders shared their journeys and insights on 'Taking Your Startup from 0 to 1,' offering valuable perspectives on the challenges and triumphs of startup growth. Their experiences provided attendees with a deep understanding of the startup ecosystem's nuances and the strategies that can drive success.

Following this engaging session, Andreas Schemm, Managing Director at Athena Transformations and Alireza Siadat, took the stage for a thought-provoking fireside chat. They delved into the merits of tokens versus equity in startup investments, exploring the evolving landscape of funding mechanisms. Their debate highlighted the advantages and potential pitfalls of each approach, offering attendees a comprehensive view of the current investment climate.

We were also delighted to host a panel featuring industry experts Victoria Gago, Co-CEO & Co-Founder of the European Blockchain Convention, Pascal Kurzawa, Senior Sales Manager at Mercuryo, Maria Eneva-Olms, Founder & CEO of EkoLance, Hagen Weiss, Counsel at Dentons, Vincze Kalnoky, Co-Founder of Domino moderated by Sarah Gottwald, Managing Director at Blockchain Founders Group.

The five panelists shared insights on the current market trends, and their opinions on the future outlook of the web3 industry – bullish, bearish, or undecided. Their diverse viewpoints and expertise made the discussion highly enjoyable, providing attendees with better understanding of the industry's trajectory and potential opportunities.

Networking dinner & drinks

The evening concluded with a delightful dinner overlooking the picturesque vineyards of Neustadt. It was a wonderful opportunity to continue conversations and foster meaningful connections in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere. As we mingled over drinks, the sense of community and shared purpose was palpable, underscoring the importance of such gatherings in strengthening our network.
